Lazy Star Quilt Along Block 6

Lazy Star Quilt- Along

Block 6

This is a dainty block that would make a great baby quilt when repeated. It is quilt and easy to create and can easily be made using bring fabrics and like all of the blocks we make can be made 6 different sizes this being the second to the smallest. So let's get started making this star block 6.

Step 1

Cut 1 Strip or use excess from the previous block that is 2 ½” wide from Fabric A and Background. From Fabric A cut 4- 2 ½” small trapezoides  as pictured below. Remember you can always cut more than one layer at a time. I usually use two layers. However this can really only be don’t with solids unless you have a print fabric all facing the same direction.

Step 2

From Background cut 4- 2 ½” squares for the four corners of this block

Step 3

From scraps cut a rectangle that is 3” x 1 ½” and then subcut two 1 ½” x 1 ½” squares from Fabric A and Background

Step 4

From 2 ½” Background fabric cut 4 large trapezoides

Step 5

Now we have all of our pieces cut (pictured below)

Sew background squares and Fabric A squares together

Sew Fabric A small trapezoides to Large Background trapezoides

Step 6

Sew your small squares to create the checkerboard block pictured below and discussed in the video.

Step 7

Now that we have all of our pieces created let's start to construct our entire block. Just like Block 5 this block is conducted the same way. Use the picture below as an example.

You have just finished your block 6. I hope you enjoyed making this block with me. Now stay tuned for next week's block on the YouTube Channel “Sewing with Cody and Pete”
